This week felt really special for me, and it took me back in time a little, because the song, “Stop, Look and Listen“, part of the Trafford and Friends initiative from Project Understanding and N332 for Kids, is released, a song I actually recorded a few years ago.
In Riley´s Words…
When I listen back to it now, it brings back lots of memories. At the time, I was closer in age to the children the song was written for, and I remember how much fun it was to record something so cheerful, energetic, and positive.
I even appear in the promotional graphics in my animated form, along with Trafford, Tammy, Francisco, and Mark, who is also my producer, and this is where my journey into road safety first began.

Even though the recording is a little older, the message is just as important today as it was then.
The song has been released just in time for the summer holidays, when children are spending more time outside, walking to parks, visiting friends, and enjoying family trips. It’s a reminder to stop, look and listen before crossing the road, no matter how familiar a journey might seem.
Listen to the Song…
Listening to it now feels slightly different because I’m older than I was when I recorded it. These days I find myself thinking not only about my own safety, but also about younger children who may be watching and learning from the people around them.
Sometimes the best thing older teenagers and young adults can do is set a good example. If younger children see us crossing safely, paying attention, and looking out for others, they’re more likely to do the same.
That’s one of the reasons I still love this song. It’s fun, it’s upbeat, and it’s full of summer energy, but underneath all of that is a simple message about caring for ourselves and the people around us.
I hope it makes you smile as much as it makes me smile listening back to it.
Have an amazing summer, look after each other, and enjoy the song.
Love,
Riley
